Title: Always For All People
(S) cripture:
Ruth 4:13-17 (NLT2) So Boaz took Ruth into his home, and she became his wife. When he slept with her, the LORD enabled her to become pregnant, and she gave birth to a son. 14 Then the women of the town said to Naomi, “Praise the LORD, who has now provided a redeemer for your family! May this child be famous in Israel. 15 May he restore your youth and care for you in your old age. For he is the son of your daughter-in-law who loves you and has been better to you than seven sons!” 16 Naomi took the baby and cuddled him to her breast. And she cared for him as if he were her own. 17 The neighbor women said, “Now at last Naomi has a son again!” And they named him Obed. He became the father of Jesse and the grandfather of David.
(O) bservation:
Boaz marries Ruth and they have a son, Obed. Obed becomes the father of Jesse and Jesse becomes the father of David. Ruth, a Moabite, is listed in the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew’s gospel. Ruth is a Gentile and not an Israelite.
(A) pplication:
For me this just confirms that salvation and a relationship with the Lord has always been for everyone. Though God chose the Israelites to be the people through whom that Messiah would come, the Messiah was never just for them but always for all people. I must remember that Jesus is available to all and I must not discriminate who I share the gospel with for any reason.
(P) rayer:
Lord, teach me to see people as you see them and to share the good news with all that will listen. Thank you for the reminder that you have always been for all people. Amen
