Title: Do Your Job

(S) cripture:
Numbers 4:1-3 (NLT2) Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, 2 “Record the names of the members of the clans and families of the Kohathite division of the tribe of Levi. 3 List all the men between the ages of thirty and fifty who are eligible to serve in the Tabernacle.

(O) bservation:
This same command is also given concerning the Gershonite and Merarite clans. Each clan was given a specific job or task to carry out when it was time to move the tabernacle. Each clan was to do their job and not the jobs of the other clans. The clans were to register all the males thirty – fifty years old that were eligible to serve in the tabernacle.

(A) pplication:
As a leader it is important to delegate responsibilities to others and create a division of labor or tasks. It is also important to let those with the responsibility do the work. Too often we as leaders jump in to do something and in so doing we rob the person of accomplishing their task, It is important for the leader to know that they are not the best at every task and to surround themselves with people that are capable and better. It does not reflect negatively on the leader. In my experience people thought how smart I was to hire such gifted people. I appreciate that Moses and Aaron did not try to do all the tasks but gave us an example to follow. It is also important for the people to know their responsibilities and to do them and not to be doing the responsibilities of others.

(P) rayer:
Lord, help me to be clear in the instructions I give others and to do my job and to support them as they do theirs. Give me wisdom as I work with others. Amen
