Title: Know Your Audience

(S) cripture:
    Matthew 22:18 (NASB) But Jesus perceived their malice, and said, “Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites?

(O) bservation:
    Jesus recognized his audience and understood their intent. John tells us, “He did not entrust himself to man because he knew what was in man.” The Pharisees were continually trying to trip Jesus up for their selfish purposes. Because Jesus knew their intent he never fell into their trap.

(A) pplication:
    I need to give careful attention to the audience I am with. I need to study their hearts and determine their intent. Since I cannot see into their hearts, I must trust God’s Spirit to reveal to me what I need to know. Today I will follow God’s guidance so that I will not fall into the trap set by people who want me to fall or fail or to harm the Gospel of Jesus.

(P) rayer:
    Lord, let me listen and hear your instruction and prompting in my heart today. Let me hear clearly the intent of the questions and conversations I have today. Amen
