Title: Shut Up and Listen

(S) cripture:
    Matthew 17:5 (NASB) While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!”

(O) bservation:
    Peter was in the middle of a mountaintop spiritual experience and was so enthralled that he began to tell Jesus what they should do. In that moment Peter thought he knew more and better than Jesus what should happen. God steps in and tells Peter to “Shut up! This is My Son, Listen to Him!!”

(A) pplication:
    Too often I am like Peter. Today I will shut up and listen rather than telling the Lord what I should do. I want to listen and then do what the Lord tells me to do. I know that ministry happens at the bottom of the mountain and I cannot stay on the mountaintop. Lord, today I want to stay with you and do what you say.

(P) rayer:
    Lord, teach me to shut up and listen. Amen
