Title: The Fields In Front Of Me

(S) cripture:
John 4:35 (NASB) “Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.

(O) bservation:
Jesus has just talked with the Samaritan woman at the well. The Jews had nothing to do with the Samaritans. In fact, they would be considered unclean for just walking in Samaria. The hatred was deep. When Jesus made the statement about the fields and harvest it was the people from the Samaritan town that were coming in throngs to see and hear Jesus. The Samaritans then declare that they believe not just because of the testimony of the woman but because they had heard Jesus for themselves. The very people the Jews hated were the ones ready for harvest in God’s Kingdom.

(A) pplication:
Our pride often makes us think we are better than others. They might just be the field Jesus is sending us into. We must set aside our prejudices and share the gospel with the people in front of us. Today I will share with those the Lord sets in front of me with joy and gladness because the message of forgiveness is for everyone.

(P) rayer:
Lord open my eyes to the fields and harvest in front of me. Give me courage to work in those fields and help me to remove any prejudice I might harbor. Amen
