Title: Health and Wealth Preachers

(S) cripture:
    Jude 1:12-13 (NASB) These are the men who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted; 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam; wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever.

(O) bservation:
    It seems that Jude knew some “Health and Wealth” preachers too. Those who sound good but serve themselves. Fruit does not come. Jude describes them as “wandering stars”. Their message is empty and they are stumbling blocks for those seeking the truth of the gospel.

(A) pplication:
    Over the years I have seen a number of preachers preach this “health and wealth” gospel to thousands. They use just enough Bible to make what they are saying sound true and yet in truth they are saying nothing. The crowds of average people hang on every word hoping they to will become rich like the preacher as evidenced by the expensive clothes he/she is wearing. Lord I do not ever want to preach or even imply that following you will lead to earthly riches. I want to produce fruit that lasts, disciples that continue to grow and mature in you. I want to feed these people and not just enrich myself. I want to be so immersed in your Word that any hint of a false gospel will be clearly evident.

(P) rayer:
    Lord help me to teach and preach the truth as revealed in your Word. Let me serve as an example of faithful living to the people you bring into my life. Let me point them to you and your truth. Amen
