Title: Teach the Truth

(S) cripture:
Titus 2:1 (NASB) But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.

(O) bservation:
Paul exhorts Titus to teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. In the next few verses outlines what is to be taught to each age group. These behaviors are the natural outcomes of sound doctrine being lived out in the lives of the people. These instructions lead to Godly living and a solid testimony. Paul gives the “why” of this teaching in Titus 2:11-15 (NASB) 11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, 12 instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, 14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds. 15 These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.

(A) pplication:
If I want people to grow into mature believers, I must teach in accord with sound doctrine. That means that I must know and study sound doctrine. That will require time in the Word and prayer. I must also be living what I am teaching and preaching if I am to be authentic and effective. Today I commit myself again to the study and preparation it takes to know and teach sound doctrine.

(P) rayer:
Father, my desire is to please you and to grow disciples. Help me and purge from my thoughts the things that are not in accord with sound doctrine. Let me authentically teach the truth with love and conviction. Amen
