Title: What’s First On My Heart

(S) cripture:
    Matthew 12:34b (NASB77) ” For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart.”

(O) bservation:
    As our eyes are windows to our souls our words are windows to our hearts. What is first on our lips is first in our hearts. Now that is a sobering thought. If I want to know what I think is important I just need to listen to what I talk most about. Most of the people I know say they want to put the Lord first in their lives, but their speech betrays that statement. As I listen to myself, this also gives me pause.

(A) pplication:
    Lord, make me aware of what I talk most about. Let me grow in my love for you so that you will be first in my heart and on my lips. Give me discernment in my conversations with others. Today I will focus on You.

(P) rayer:
    Lord, forgive me for putting other things ahead of you. Take my life and let me be so full of you that I let your love spill out of me and onto others from the overflow of my heart. Amen
