Title: Lord, Guard My Mouth
(S) cripture:
Psalm 141:3 (NASB77) Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.
(O) bservation:
Our mouths get us in to some big trouble and messes at times. Our words can be used for good but can also get us into all kinds of evil. The Psalmist asks the Lord to put a guard on what we say. A monitor for our lips. Our speech should be only that which pleases the Lord. We need to ask for this same protection.
(A) pplication:
Lord, too often I use my tongue to degrade, insult, manipulate people or other evil and ungodly things. I want my speech to be empowered by your resurrection. That would be “Risen Speech” and that is what I want coming from my mouth so that I can point people to you. I saw a t-shirt that said “Lord put your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth“. Today, Lord, I want to experience your support and have you guard my speech. I want to encourage and lift people up so they might see you and be drawn to you.
(P) rayer:
Lord, set a guard over my mouth and keep watch over the door of my lips that I might not be drawn into what is evil but would speak words that point people to you. Amen
