Title: Reflection on Mom

(S) cripture:
Mark 16:1-6 (NASB77) And when the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him. 2 And very early on the first day of the week, they •came to the tomb when the sun had risen. 3 And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” 4 And looking up, they •saw that the stone had been rolled away, although it was extremely large. 5 And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at the right, wearing a white robe; and they were amazed. 6 And he •said to them, ” Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him.

(O) bservation:
When the women got to the tomb the discovered something they were not expecting. The stone had been tossed away and Jesus’ body was not there. An angel told them that “He is not here, he has risen as he said.”

(A) pplication:
Today would have been my Mom’s 93rd birthday here but it is her first in heaven. Her faith and witness impacted so many people. As a wife, mother, Sunday School teacher, camp director and counselor, retreat leader, song leader, pre-school teacher and director or friend, she invested her life in the lives of so many and we all are better for it. She continually impacted my life and ministry as a Christian and pastor. I miss her today but an so excited for her celebration in heaven. It is her first birthday with Daddy since 1984 and her first in heaven, what a celebration she is having. Today I am reflecting on how blessed and fortunate I am because I got to call her “mom”. I want my life to impact others like she did.

(P) rayer:
Lord, thank you for giving me to Bob and Betty Crouch as their son. I want to impact others like they did. Use me today. Amen
