Title: Comfort and Strength

(S) cripture:
    Psalm 23:1-6 (NASB77)
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.
3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
5 Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

(O) bservation: The Psalmist, David, reminds us of God’s presence, provision, strength and comfort that are available to those who trust and follow Him.

(A) pplication:
There are days when I need to be reminded of God’s presence, provision, strength and comfort that are mine because of His Son. When I get discouraged or frustrated or concerned about the future or just everyday events this psalm becomes a source of comfort and strength and an encouragement to carry on and maintain the course. There are days when even the “pastor” wonders and questions and needs a fresh experience of God’s comfort and strength. This psalm is that great reminder. Today I will again take heart in knowing that God’s presence, provision, strength and comfort are mine and I will experience them as I follow Jesus by faith.

(P) rayer:
Father, thank you for the constant reminder of your comfort and strength in my life. Let me live confidently in that knowledge and also share it with others. Amen
